I want you to be my love

The song "I want you to be my love" is from Over The Rhine's great album "Drunkard's Prayer," which is their second-best album, in my opinion.  "Good Dog Bad Dog" is their best album.

Here's the video for "I want you to be my love."

Better Living Through Chemistry?

Tired of being an underpaid writer?  Long for a rewarding albeit boring career in, say, chemistry?  Where the chemicals which will either explode or else poison you are so much better than the chemicals which will poison you and then also explode?

Pharmaceutical chemist Derek Lowe skips gaily through the thrilling world of exploding glassware and flaming gloves in his blog of "Things I Won't Work With."

Purple Ear Syndrome

Did reviewers like your story except for one thing?  That doen't mean your story only has one problem.  You may be experiencing "purple ear syndrome."

The story behind "purple ear syndrome" is that a portrait-painter was painting a picture of a notoriously-picky customer.  The painter deliberately painted one of the customer's ears purple in the picture.  The customer told the painter something like: "Are you nuts?  That ear shouldn't be purple!  Just fix the ear and the painting will be OK."  The customer didn't notice any other real or imaginary problems.  He was content having one thing to complain about.  That one thing happened to be easy for the painter to fix.

The engineer I learned this from presented a new piece of equipment to a notoriously-picky manager for approval.  The company logo on the enclosure was quite obviously wrong.  The manager immediately approved the equipment design "as long as you fix the logo."

News Flash: Magnets are magnetic!

The story Manufacturer disabled MRI’s demagnetising switch would've been funny if a man hadn't been seriously injured because of a double-dose of stupidity.  Don't bring iron and steel objects near extremely powerful magnets!  Don't disable safety features!
