Did reviewers like your story except for one thing? That doen't mean your story only has one problem. You may be experiencing "purple ear syndrome."
The story behind "purple ear syndrome" is that a portrait-painter was painting a picture of a notoriously-picky customer. The painter deliberately painted one of the customer's ears purple in the picture. The customer told the painter something like: "Are you nuts? That ear shouldn't be purple! Just fix the ear and the painting will be OK." The customer didn't notice any other real or imaginary problems. He was content having one thing to complain about. That one thing happened to be easy for the painter to fix.
The engineer I learned this from presented a new piece of equipment to a notoriously-picky manager for approval. The company logo on the enclosure was quite obviously wrong. The manager immediately approved the equipment design "as long as you fix the logo."
